I’m W.E. Singh, a former journalist and non-fiction author now writing fast, funny fantasy where mythology collides with the modern world — and occasionally leaves a crater.
THE SHORT VERSION
From reporting the world to making one up.
W.E. Singh is the pen name of Warren Singh-Bartlett. Before turning to fiction, I spent two decades reporting from the Middle East and worked as a journalist and non-fiction author across Asia.
These days I write mythology-infused comic fantasy: ancient gods, djinn, angels, inconvenient immortals, cosmic stakes and people trying to cope with situations for which there really ought to have been a manual.
WHAT I WRITE
The Saga of the Seal Bearer
A Djinnfernal Conspiracy begins the story with a reluctant hero, the Egyptian Afterlife and one extremely consequential pair of pink fuzzy dice.
Book Two, A Djinn and Bear It Situation, takes the same supernatural trouble off-world. Book Three is in progress, while Fran & Jan have their own adventures beginning with The Khartoum Caper.

I’m currently finishing the trilogy, with the final book planned for late 2026/early 2027. The Khartoum Caper, the first Fran & Jan adventure, is due in paperback and ebook in October 2026.
